A Brief Course Description
This class covers mechanical, interior and exterior inspections. The trainee will be made aware of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and inspection and the Out of Service Criteria established by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
The session will stress the relationship between safety and the proper documentation of maintenance performed.
Every item in typical 6,000 - 18,000 - 24,000 - and 30,000 mile inspections, including brake inspections, tire inspection and electrical system inspection, all mechanical systems, interior and exterior inspections are covered in depth.
Shop work consists of preventive maintenance inspections, including record keeping requirements on live vehicles.
Safety and shop procedures are an important part of this class which is intended for experienced mechanics as well as those new to the trade or not familiar with preventive maintenance inspection and repair procedures.
